Labradoodle

Labradoodles are a cross between a Labrador Retriever and either a Standard or Miniature Poodle.

They share the desirable personality traits of the Poodle and the Labrador, including a high level of intelligence and trainability, friendly outgoing nature and a tolerance of children.

First bred to be assistance dogs and more especially for people who suffered from pet related allergies due to the poodle-like coat.

Labradoodles are susceptible to the health problems of both the Labrador and the Poodle, although possibly at a lower rate than purebred dogs. These include many different disorders including Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Von Willebrand disease, Degenerative Myelopathy, Neonatal encephalopathy and Acral Mutilation Syndrome

Feeding

Labradoodles are active, energetic dogs so it’s important they receive the right levels of nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Vets recommend feeding a high-quality pet food twice a day.

Grooming

Labradoodles are a good choice for allergy sufferers as they shed less than other breeds.

They they will need to be brushed regularly to prevent matting of their fur and to to keep their coat healthy.

Your Labradoodle will need regular trips to the groomers to keep their coat tidy and their nails trimmed.  It’s a good idea to take your puppy to your local groomer for a visit and let it get used to being handled and brushed right from an early age.
